Apprentice Substation ElectricianDepartment/Division Distribution OperationsWork Location Huron, SDGuidepost CBA Rate ($21.10 - $23.92)Employment Status Regular Full-TimeEmployment Physical RequiredDrug Test RequiredBackground Check RequiredRelocation Benefit NegotiableSUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTIONThe Substation Electrician is responsible forinstalling, retiring, servicing, and maintaining substation equipment in theassigned territoryDESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS · AllNorthWestern Energy employees are required to adhere to company safetystandards · Ensureall actions are consistent with NorthWestern Energy s values, mission, andstrategic business objectives · Responsiblefor the safe daily operation, maintenance, and construction of electricdistribution and transmission substation facilities · Install,retire, service, and maintain substation equipment · Repairand service, wire and test, and install and remove large electrical equipment · Respondto after hour situations involving distribution, transmission and substationproblems · Responsiblefor oil handling, testing, and record keeping (PCB and non-PCB) · Responsiblefor work in the service territory in South Dakota but may be sent to otherlocations within NorthWestern Energy s service territory · Requiredto respond to call-outs after hours within a reasonable amount of time · Requiredto adhere to NESC, MSHA, OSHA, and NorthWestern Energy safety rules · Ableto lift 10-35 pounds frequently, occasionally lift 50 to 100 pounds · Ableto work outdoors in adverse weather conditions with exposure to electricalhazards · Ableto travel approximately 40% of the timeGENERAL QUALIFICATIONS · Mustbe able to demonstrate a good safety record · Mustpossess strong interpersonal communication skills · VerifiableSubstation construction, maintenance, and operation experience or education required · Mustbe a licensed electrician or substation technician with substation equipment constructionand O&M experience · Musthave a history of, or background in, installing, retiring, servicing, andmaintaining substation equipment · Musthave a proven history of, or commitment to, call out availability · Mustbe able to read maps, prints, specs, and blueprints and know applicable codesand standards · Preferdemonstrated competence with power-operated equipment and testing andmonitoring instruments · Musthave a valid South Dakota CDL or be able to obtain one within 6 months of hireSELECTION PROCESSWhen considering applicants for thisposition, the selection process will take into consideration the needs ofNorthWestern, including such factors as reorganization requirements, diversityopportunities, relocation requirements, employee development and jobsuccession.
